The meeting was recorded, but remained secret for decades. The filmmakers delved into the archives and now reveal the recordings. We hear the voices of ministers who, one by one, express their support for the infamous law. They wax lyrical about a new revolution and economic prosperity. The ease with which they suspend the constitution is shocking. To reinforce the dictatorship, Brazilians were bombarded with cheerful propaganda newsreels glorifying the policy, accompanied by upbeat music. The filmmakers have cleverly combined these films with the audio recordings of the military government. The propaganda features a lot of flag hoisting and lavish praise for the Trans Amazonian highway. Toxic lies: in reality, people were deprived of their vote and forbidden to demonstrate. Opponents of the regime were tortured and executed. The film focuses on Martha and Diego, a married couple who have been appointed guardians of the saint, and on Román and his son Tino, who have been called upon to serve as musicians. Music has a key role to play in this blend of Catholic and Mayan faith. Meticulously and with love, filmmaker Humberto Gómez Pérez—son of Martha and Diego—captures the dedication with which these servants of faith execute their allotted tasks. Elsewhere in the film, the director treats the viewer to stunning views of the sweeping mountain landscape and close-ups of the crafted objects and musical instruments that have a central role in this religious practice. The small town of Marinka lies in the Ukrainian Donetsk Oblast. Almost 10,000 people lived there, even though the town was under constant attack by pro-Russian separatists since 2014. When the war escalated in the spring of 2022, however, Marinka came under heavy artillery fire and practically all residents had to leave the town by September. The local police helped get them ou... When the war escalated in the spring of 2022, however, Marinka came under heavy artillery fire and practically all residents had to leave the town by September. The local police helped get them out. One of the policemen is Vasyl, the protagonist of this film. In a white van, soon christened the “white angel” by the population, he and his colleagues pull civilians out of the line of fire, recover the wounded and the dead. Vasyl’s helmet camera records the dramatic events of their missions: evacuating scared people from their cellars, first aid for the seriously injured, the hasty gathering of personal belongings, the painful and permanent partings. Six months after the end of Marinka, the Leipzig-based investigative journalist Arndt Ginzel and his crew return to eastern Ukraine. They find the survivors, rescued persons and rescuers, and let them comment the action cam images. They speak of losses, of pain and grief, but also of hopes and dreams. “White Angel – The End of Marinka” is more than a film about war. Seven people died from April 2021, drowned in the waters of the River BiDasoa between Irun and Hendaia,... (展开全部) Police control and the closure of certain crossings on the BiDasoa river, natural border of the Pyrenées-Atlantiques Department, imposed by France in summer 2018 to prevent the entrance of immigrants on their way to other European countries, caused 10 deaths in a single year. Seven people died from April 2021, drowned in the waters of the River BiDasoa between Irun and Hendaia, while another three lost their lives in October 2021, hit by a train in Ziburu. This documentary, as well as putting a voice and face to several of the activists who work on either side of the river, as representatives of the Harrera Sarea (Reception Network) and BiDasoa Etorkinekin (The BiDasoa with Migrants) associations, also recalls those who lost their lives, giving them a name and an age, following their journey and their dreams, discovering the history and the people behind the cold figures of the deceased, giving the tragedy a more human aspect.

Since 2001, the 20-block quadrant of Santa Fe, known as the ‘tolerance zone’, has been designated for legal sex. Many of its inhabitants are from the trans community and continue to face violence and discrimination in a region that accounts for three quarters of the world’s trans-related murders. Like the area it is located in, the family-run brothel Tabaco y Ron offers refuge to trans sex workers. Both young and old, the workers open up to filmmaker Carmen Oquendo-Villar, who weaves their stories into a fascinating and often moving tapestry of life.
